The Spellsword is the classic “Gish” fantasy realized in Ashes of Creation. By combining the martial prowess of a Fighter with the elemental destruction of a Mage, you create a warrior who doesn’t just hit hard—they hit with the force of a storm.
The Synergy: Fighter + Mage
Your Mage secondary provides Elemental Augments (Fire, Ice, Lightning, Earth). This allows you to exploit enemy weaknesses.
- Lightning Augment:
- Rush (Fighter) -> Lightning Dash: You teleport instantly to the target, stunning them on arrival. Great for catching slippery Rangers.
- Fire Augment:
- Whirlwind (Fighter) -> Flame Cyclone: Your AOE attack now applies a burning DoT (Damage over Time) to everyone hit.
Tactics & Usage
The Spellsword is a Burst Damage specialist.
- Engage: Teleport in with Lightning Dash.
- Burst: Unleash a Fire-augmented combo to melt armor.
- Escape: Use a Mage utility augment to blink away before the enemy can retaliate.
Why Play Spellsword?
If you find the standard Fighter too boring and “simple,” the Spellsword offers a higher skill ceiling. You need to manage your cooldowns and choose the right element for the right enemy, but the visual flair and damage payoff are immense.
